Providing Services for People with Disabilities and Their Families

Children and adults with disabilities and special needs find highest-quality services designed to meet their individual needs when they come to Easter Seals. Teams of therapists, teachers and other health and human service professionals help each person overcome obstacles to independence and reach his or her personal goals. Easter Seals also includes families as active members of our programs, and offers the support families need.

Comprehensive Pediatric Therapy: Teaching Life Skills and Developing Physical Abilities
Easter Seals Oregon's Children's Therapy Center in Salem provides a multi-disciplinary approach to treating children with developmental or special needs and assisting their families with evaluation, counseling, referral and support systems. Teams of physical, occupational, speech/language and/or mental health therapists work together with parents, physicians and schools to find the treatment best suited to a child’s individual needs.

Camping: Having Fun, Making Friends, Mastering Skills, Expanding Independence
Camp is about all the things children and adults can do -- play basketball, fish, sing, eat s'mores and more. Easter Seals camping programs provide a safe, barrier-free environment for children and adults to experience all aspects of camp without usual limitations.

Employment and Job Training: Finding a Job and Contributing in Your Community
Easter Seals SCSEP, Latino Connection, Learning a Living and Connecting to Jobs programs provide employment services to Oregonians with disabilities and other barriers to employment. Services include job placement and development, training, and assistance to people starting or running a small/home business.

Warm Water Aquatics: Promoting Independence and Quality of Life
Adaptive warm water exercise programs help clients with all kinds of disabilities, including arthritis, stroke and other special needs. Dozens of classes are dedicated to rehabilitation and therapeutic exercise, as well as swimming lessons for children with disabilities.

Recreation & Respite: Quality Activities in a Safe Environment
Recreation & Respite programs offer children with special needs and their siblings a chance to experience age appropriate recreational activities while interacting with other children, while offering parents and guardians a much need break from the constant demands of care giving. First Saturday, a social event for teens and adults with disabilities, fills another important need that is lacking in many communities.

Money Management Program: Protecting the Vulnerable
Financial security is more than simply having money on which to live. It's also being able to manage a bank account, pay bills, and handle taxes and other financial tasks on time. Trained and caring volunteers provide financial education, help manage debt, pay bills, create budgets, help with consumer problems, and serve as representative payees for Social Security, VA and other federal benefits. Services are offered free of charge to low-income individuals in a number of Oregon communities.
