Jordan's Story

Four year old Jordan has many complex medical issues. He has been classified as a medically fragile child by his doctors. Jordan’s immune system is so weak he is not even allowed to be immunized. Jordan suffered a stroke sometime between birth and 3 months and as a result he began to have seizures. He has been diagnosed with infantile spasms and cerebral palsy. Because of his stroke and subsequent brain damage, he is seriously delayed in development.

When Jordan’s doctors told his family he was going to need extensive therapy, they called Easter Seals Oregon’s Children’s Therapy Center in Salem and explained the situation. Within a week Jordan came in for a very thorough evaluation and was placed with a therapist who was best suited for his learning style. He has been with Easter Seals ever since.   

The one-on-one relationships Jordan has with his therapists are vital, both to Jordan and the entire family. When Jordan gets to the parking lot of Easter Seals, he lights up. Without having strong personal relationships between Jordan and his therapists, and building the trust he has with them, Jordan would not have progressed nearly as far as he has. None of Jordan’s doctors thought he would be mobile, but through the hard work and the dedication of his therapists, Jordan is now able to scoot around and knee walk. He is making progress towards standing and the family is confident that one day he will be walking. 

The staff at Easter Seals Oregon's Children's Therapy Center never shies away from an opportunity to help a child grow.  Jordan’s family feels without the patience and dedication of the staff at Easter Seals, Jordan would not have made the great leaps and bounds that he has.
