Ardyce Moore receives the Easter Seals Oregon
2009 Exceptional Service Award

Easter Seals Oregon celebrated 62 years of service at the Annual Meeting held September 23, 2009. Ardyce Moore was awarded with the first annual Exceptional Service Award and her husband, Kenny was also acknowledged for his support. 

Ardyce Moore has been a member of the Easter Seals Oregon board for 13 years, and she’s been volunteering for longer than that. In fact, Ardyce has been giving her time, energy and resources to Easter Seals Oregon since her friend Anita Martin got her to join Epsilon Sigma Alpha (ESA) when she was living in Coos Bay in 1958. That’s when her love affair started with Easter Seals Oregon because their chapter focused on helping the Easter Seals School in Eugene and Camp Easter Seals at Lakeside.

Ardyce and Kenny fell in love with Easter Seals when the Coos County Racing Association of Modified Cars Ken belonged to needed to have an affiliation with a non-profit in order to keep their own non-profit status. Ken told Ardyce that he would “go visit the Easter Seals camp” to see if it was a fit for his organization but wanted it understood that he didn’t want to stay very long” Ardyce said “we had so much fun being with the kids that we didn’t want to leave we stayed there way past dinner so we could be with the kids.”

Ardyce has made an overwhelmingly positive difference over her many years of service to Easter Seals. Together with so many of her ESA sisters, she has…
a. Sold Enesco Precious Moments products to raise money for Easter Seals
b. Worked tirelessly at Easter Seals Telethons which raised hundreds of thousands of dollars.
c. Volunteered at most all Safeway Classic LPGA tournaments that have been held which now generates thousands of dollars a year for our clients and so many more events and fundraisers.

Ardyce and Ken continue giving to Easter Seals Oregon for they have committed to making one of the largest legacy gifts to Easter Seals Oregon in the organization’s history. They have some beautiful property on the Deschutes River, and they intend to leave it to us. That is truly a remarkable and humbling gesture and an example for all of us.

We appreciate and honor the work done by Ardyce Moore. This has only been a brief moment in time to pause and appreciate her work it’s not a conclusion to her volunteer service.
